Ceci n’est pas un coffee shop! At 1 Rue de la République, laptops are banned, because the only thing being super-charged here is your caffeine levels – and your desire to chat. That’s where Léo Loubens, a former community manager, lent his first name to this squeaky-clean spot that embodies him perfectly. Showcased on the sleek wall: espresso, drip coffee and cold brew – though we opted for a latte made with Peruvian beans the day we went. In a joyful hubbub of real human conversation, we also savored an espresso with zero acidic notes and only pure caramel sweetness, imported from Guatemala and roasted by Kawa. In short, a top-notch coffee experience! // Maria Mariaux
THE HIDDEN GEM: The lightly roasted beans from the Amsterdam-based coffee roasters Friedhats (€11 for 250 g).
