The shortest route is rarely the tastiest! After pursuing separate paths, illustrator Chloé Bertron and baker Antoine Cubillé (ex-Pain Noir, Pain Blanc in Schiltigheim) decided to combine their talents to knead this bakery in Koenigshoffen into existence. Inside the tiny tiled space, beautiful loaves, pastries and focaccia made with organic flours (sourced in Alsace and stone-ground) and natural levain tumble fresh from the oven onto the wooden shelves and display counter. Enough to send you home with a whimsically offbeat tote bag (delightfully designed by Chloé) swinging on your arm and stuffed to the brim with jams, honey and savory spreads from the adorable store-cupboard section… unless you’d rather linger a little longer, like the parents and child curled up on the sofa flipping through an illustrated book, cinnamon roll in hand. · Jane Air
