Is ice-cream maker the most beautiful job in the world? You’ll have to ask Baudouin Lénelle, who left journalism to learn the art of gelati in Italy, before setting up shop on this side of the L’Enjambée bridge – and becoming a mainstay on many a local restaurant menu. That afternoon, we enthusiastically licked up: a scoop of pistachio, which we’d almost forgotten could be neither fluorescent green nor full of chemical additives; a scoop of Strabana, a banana-straciatella hybrid with real crunchy chocolate chips; and a scoop of hazelnut for those who’ve given up counting calories. In the summer, the organic strawberry and pear sorbets from Temploux are also up for grabs. Heaven sent! // Heloise Bartsoen
THE HIDDEN GEM: Earl Grey ice cream (€3 for a scoop, €8 for a half-liter, €16 for a liter).
