It’s impossible to miss this vibrant storefront located along the walk to Buttes Chaumont, painted a dazzling sunshine yellow. Step inside and you’ll find self-taught artisan Marc Flaster hard at work, churning out decadent ice creams made with farm-fresh milk from Normandy’s Brin d’Herbe dairy, along with refreshing sorbets, crafted with organic fruits. All of which gets scooped into hand-rolled cones, so the whole experience is a delight, down to the very last crumb. When we stopped by on a leisurely Sunday stroll, it didn’t take much convincing for us to devour a divino gelato with stewed strawberries, paired with a scoop of fresh mint sorbet. But it was a tough call, considering that day’s other option (the menu changes almost every day): mint-chocolate stracciatella with lemon sorbet – which would be well worth coming back for! All in all, locals owe Marc a big thank you for setting up shop with his ice cream scoops in tow in his beloved 19th arrondissement. Oh, and you can even bring a tub back home with you! // Maria Mariaux
THE HIDDEN GEM: The Bissap sorbet made from hibiscus (of course), mint and rose water from the Épicerie Le Caire in Belleville (€3.50 a scoop).
