The maternal rebuke “Look but don’t touch!” suffers a blow at this arty bakery with a raspberry-colored store front. The temptation to touch Moldavian Senina Cojocari’s creations is just too much to bear! Before opening this cheeky bakery, she dabbled in loaves and cakes in London, and also had her nose in coffee, founding Wide Awake Coffee Roasters in Brussels. Here? You’ll find knock-out sourdough breads made with heirloom grains (miso and black sesame, lemon and poppy seed), as well as an ever-changing roster of impressive natural sourdough pastries: soft hot cross buns with raisins, exceptional date and pistachio vegan brioche, apple turnovers better than back in the day, maritozzi with blood orange jam, and even a savory cheese, endive and potato Danish. Grab the lot to go with an excellent coffee, or gobble them down in house, served on vintage tableware. Standing ovations are in order! // Rocky Simone
