Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake baker’s man, bake me a cake as fast as you can… A mere hop, skip and a jump away from Grand-Place, Thomas Delabie (ex-Eau Vive in Profondeville) and Mélissa Lamberti (an advertising copywriter) named their black-and-white wooden space in honor of their ginger cat. After a spot of window-shopping, we dive into the counter display featuring their ultra-seasonal, graphically-pleasing creations: a gourmet and not-overly-sweet Paris-Brest filled with a Piedmont hazelnut praline, Loco Mango (mango, sesame and salted butter caramel) or Lucky You (rhubarb, cardamom and vanilla) entremets, a preserved lemon Simona tart, and macarons, amongst other sweets. Grab a high chair and prolong this moment of grace, while sipping an Adamance nectar, tea from Les Thélis de Sophie in Saint-Ghislain, or coffee from roasters La Colombe in Quaregnon. // Alain Maes

THE HIDDEN-GEM: The couques cookies on Sunday, and most importantly the pain au chocolat (€1.95)!
