Follow the fox north and you’ll be rewarded with ice cream. Up in the northern reaches of Brussels, more precisely in Jette, Mieke Vandensande has finally swapped her home kitchen for a tiny parlor after five years of churning out ice cream from home, bringing a welcome deep freeze to the Miroir neighborhood. Named Róka (“fox” in Hungarian) – a nod to her roots and the capital’s beloved mascot, the clever ice cream maker turns out one knockout flavor after another. On our last visit: coffee cardamom and coconut stracciatella ice creams, alongside an orange, lemon and thyme sorbet. Better still, the menu caters thoughtfully to allergies and dietary restrictions, with gluten-free cones and vegan scoops among the options. Ready, steady… lick ! · Anníe del Mono
