La Senne is a bit like the captain of Brussels’ craft neo-breweries. And it all began back in 2002, when Yvan De Baets met Bernard Leboucq, an encounter which led to them opening this bar in Tours & Taxis in 2023. Brutalist architecture, minimal decor… Nevertheless, we feel right at home: a foosball table, a huge playground for the little ones, and how’s that for a terrace! The derelict red-brick building opposite brings a certain je ne sais quoi, adding to the space’s melancholic poetic charm. But anyway, on to the booze: Brussels Calling!, a delicious seasonal IPA (brewed once a year for their anniversary) is back on tap, or an 8% ABV Jambe De Bois. Alongside all the classic snacks (saucisson and rounds of cheese from €3 to €8) and a future collaboration in the works with Klok – fried chicken burgers, chicken wing yakitori, fries with cheesy maroilles sauce, from €5 to 10. Don’t forget to check out their shop, stocked with their bottled beer featuring iconic labels designed by Jean Goovaerts and cool t-shirts a plenty. // Gueuze Van Sant
THE BULLET-PROOF BOTTLE: The now legendary Zinnebir (€3.50 for 330 ml), a pale ale with just the right amount of bitterness.
