In Brussels, there are places that create a buzz – and then there’s Lary Bar: a secret nightclub whispered on everyone’s lips, where the sticker-covered walls have more stories to tell than the cocktail menu. Since 2023, two hipster nightlife wizards, Mary Geraldes (former bartender at Vertigo) and Lucas Lepori (ex-manager of Mappa Mundo), have been running this in-the-know hotspot, mixing their love of rum, dirty drinks and weird-and-wonderful playlists that swing from cozy jazz to full-on dance music, in the blink of an eye. Inside, the floor is shiny, the sofas are red and incredibly soft, and behind the long counter are bottles surrounded by colorful fairy lights, lined up like a party waiting to happen. The absolute must-try? The Sticky Rice (€14.30) featuring junmai sake, rice cream, calamansi, mango, coconut, pandan and a splash of sparkling water. What it lacks in Michelin-starred polish, it sure makes up for in character. Come here once and you’ll never want to go anywhere else. · Bobbi Rossi
