THE STORY: With interiors straight out of an Agatha Christie novel (marble floors, period fireplaces, high ceilings, decorative moldings), the Fleur de Ville hotel proudly flaunts its elegant 19th-century architectural heritage. Built in 1889 by architect Hendrik Beyaert as the headquarters of the Caisse Générale d’Épargne et de Retraite savings and pensions institute, the building was later expanded by architects Henri van Dievoet and Alban Chambon. Today, after a subtle makeover by Saar Zafrir, the whole complex enters a luxurious new era, with 51 rooms and suites, a restaurant led by chef Yonatan Cohen, a stylish lounge bar and a well-equipped fitness room. Double rooms from €120 per night. · Jeanne Jacot
