A stone’s throw from Alexandre Gauthier’s brilliant restaurant (La Grenouillère), you’ll find this wine shop recommended by the chef himself! And for good reason: its owners, Belinda and Olivier Tirel, have collected no fewer than 3,000 labels of wine, 100 Champagnes and 200 spirits, spread out over the immense anthracite shelves and boxes scattered around the shop. Unearthed the day we went: Argile Blanc, a Chardonnay / Jacquère / Mondeuse blanche blend from the Domaine des Ardoisières in Savoie (€21.90); Pèlroge, a Gironde Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon blend from the Domaine de l’Astré (€17.90); or even Coume de Maliès, a Grenache blanc and gris blend from the Domaine Balansa in the Aude (€15.90). Want something besides wine? There are small-producer whiskeys (Dailuaine, Ian Macleod, Waterford) and even a few craft beers (Craig Allan, Brasserie du Pavé), so you can be prepared for any situation. // Gwen Jacquère
The bullet-proof bottle: L’Herbe Folle, a Gamay from Sophie and Lilian Bauchet (€18.90).
