NUMBER OF ROOMS: 4 rooms
CLOSED ANNUALLY: Open all year round

THE STORY: Are you freaking out a little bit at the idea of staying in an ecological hotel in the Cantal? Fear of scratchy sheets, perhaps? A loathing of dry toilets? You would still be wrong to pass over Alta Terra, the green paradise that Virginie and Stéphane have created. Yes, there is wood everywhere, but don’t panic, the bedrooms are very accommodating, pretty and luminous. The communal room, opened to everyone all day long, becomes a corner café, and even urban addicts will appreciate the South-facing terrace, that looks out onto the volcanoes. Rooms from €65 to €130. New : a cute and cosy cottage for 2, with wood stove and secluded deck (€120 per night, breakfast included).

TOILETRIES: Organic shower gel from Douce Nature.
SPA: Hammam and sauna included in the price of the room, outdoor Nordic bath (€55 reservation during the cold season).
INTERNET: Free (they will even loan you a small computer if you don’t have one).
BREAKFAST: Included, with Nespresso coffee, Les Jardins de Gaya teas, bread from the baker in Dienne, homemade jams and cakes, animal or vegetal milks, organic cereals, fresh fruit, artisanal apple juice, yogurt, confiture of blond lentils from Saint-Flour…
LITTLE LUXURY: Stéphane, a mountain guide, can take you on a tour of the countryside by foot, mountain bike, snowshoes or…by skis pulled by snow kites!
