THE STORY: In the bedrooms, nice and cool behind the thick walls of this lovingly redone Renaissance château, the tommette tiles and molded ceilings go nicely with a Le Corbusier armchair or an abstract painting. While outside you can get some sweet relaxation in the winter lounge (while admiring the 19th century frescos, with their graceful patina), under the old trees in the park, or in the pool bordered by dozens of rose bushes. Rooms from €145 to €160, suite at €210. New: a cottage for 4 people (€210 / night).
TOILETRIES: Melvita beauty products, an organic brand located nearby in Ardèche, and organic olive oil soaps.
INTERNET: Wifi access in the shared spaces.
BREAKFAST: Included, with homemade jam, viennoiseries, fresh fruit juices, yogurts, faisselles from Ardèche, organic honeys from Gaston, homemade compote and sometimes little extras (French toast, homemade crepes and waffles, etc).
LITTLE LUXURY: For both tame and wild escapades, it’s possible to rent the caravan site (€210 a night for 5 persons). Also: relaxing massages (€80 an hour), semi-electric bikes for rent, and there’s even a home decor, vintage goods and clothing boutique at the château.
