CLOSED ANNUALLY: Open all year round

THE STORY: After running her family’s printing works in Lyon, Nathalie decided to make some drastic changes. In 2015, shefell in love with an old elementary school in Embronay, a village in the Ain department, which had been put up for sale by the town hall. After a year of renovations, she opened a bed & breakfast with four bedrooms, subtly decorated with schoolroom themes: there’s a dais, blackboards used as headboards, a child’s desk and vintage globes… As a bonus gift: the incredibly charming vintage kitchen with a big épicerie bar, a communal breakfast table and a pinball machine! Double rooms starting at €110 a night.

TOILETRIES: Soap, shower gel, shampoo.
INTERNET: Wifi (free)
BREAKFAST: Included, with coffee or tea, Alain Milliat fruit juices, various breads, viennoiseries, old-fashioned brioche, charcuterie, cheese, fruit, fromage blanc, eggs… Basically a miniature brunch.
LITTLE LUXURY: Ping-pong and foosball tables in the covered courtyard, hopscotch andball games on the playground, so you can make the most of your recess, just like back in the day!
