THE STORY: A former 15th century convent, perched on the Cap Corse, where they still ring the Angelus even though the Capuchin monks, who lived there in poverty and peace, left in 1796. Emmanuelle Picon has preserved the relics and the monastic spirit of the place—virgin saints and pious images against a backdrop of whitewashed walls—and transformed the place into a vacation home for Mediterranean pleasures, in the sweltering heat of the scrubland, with a sumptuous pool overlooking the sea. Around the old cloister, the monks’ cells have been transformed into bedrooms with views of the Mediterranean and the Tyrrhenian Islands in the distance, or of a hydrangea-filled courtyard. As for the terrestrial food (served in lunch baskets or at the table d’hôte), they are selected and prepared by Emmanuelle: anchovies à la bastiaise, Corsican pesto soup, zucchini flour beignets in the summertime, roasted goat, grilled chestnuts and figatelli, grandma’s fiadone in the winter, around the fireplace… Rooms and suites from €150 to €350 a week. Convent rental for 10 to 14 people, from €7,500 to €10,000 a week.

TOILETRIES: Casanera products, 100% organic and made in Corsica, with a juniper, orange and myrtle base.
INTERNET: Free (wifi).
BREAKFAST: Included, with fresh juices made from lemons and oranges from the convent, Corsican cheeses, fig jam, fruit salad, fresh breads and brioches from the Erbalunga bakery.
MINIBAR: Wines from Yves Leccia estate.
LITTLE LUXURY: The convent can be rented out for private parties or marriages, with the ceremony performed in the neighboring church. Emmanuelle can take care of the coordination.
