Brand new on Place du Pin in Nice’s Petit Marais, the super chic Superbar is the brainchild of Céline and Arnaud Fallet (Café Paulette) and chief bartender Bruno Pradas. This hybrid space is made for enjoying crafty cocktails to the sound of vinyl grooves, from soul, funk, Afrobeat, jazz and even a sprinkling of 80s disco. Tested and approved that evening: a few slyly shaken creations (€14-16), including a perfectly pitched on-tap Negroni headlining the show, as well as some other, more unusual concoctions like the Super Colada, a clarified piña colada; La Vie En Rose (Pink Pepper gin, St-Germain, lychee and pink peppercorn cordial); and the Kissa Feeling (Nikka From the Barrel whisky, umeshu and vanilla). Other menu fixtures include sharp sakes like the FU (€26 for 300 ml) or the Zaku Megumi no Tomo (€30), alongside swanky bottles waiting to pop, from a Gard red by Berry Althoff (€39 a bottle) to a Larzac white from Domaine du Pas de l’Escalette (€53). Satisfy hunger pangs with globetrotting plates (€9-14) crafted by Bastien Ouvrad and Ambroise Sigaud: grilled broccoli with avocado-wasabi sauce; a Laotian-style shiitake salad; or cheeky tuna handrolls with shiso and yuzu vinaigrette. · Lenny Vega
