THE STORY: Longtime friends with restaurant and hospitality experience to their names, Carole Picard and Florence Pons had always dreamed about a joint venture. When they discovered Le Bar Américain, a waning Arles institution, they didn’t give it more than second thought. The idea? Redesign the twelve bedrooms of their future Maison Volver by combinging antique furniture and light fixtures with modern pieces (Be Design metal wardrobes, Hübsch wooden shelves, Danish Commod chests), linen sheets and colorful wallpaper. The result? Rooms that have a very Almodovarian feel, and a familial ambiance that makes for the perfect hangout spot. The common spaces, decorated much in the same vein, include a pretty terrace, the ideal location for an al fresco breakfast. Bedrooms in the high season starting at €150 a night.
