Oggy Oggy Oggy! In Ghent’s historic center, Michael and Jason Blanckaert are writing their own legend: that of two brothers – one is Thai by adoption, and the other used to work as a chef at J.E.F. – who deserve medals for their Belgian-Thai cuisine. The 411? A set menu that combines small bites and plates to share, like: oyster with nuoc mam and a smoked eggplant cracker; delicious plaice fillet topped with chopped portobello mushroom on a seaweed and soy sauce broth; ultra-fresh scallops seasoned with ginger, samphire and green meat radish; punchy garlic and Thai basil mussels; a small shot of cucumber green tea to cleanse the palate; terribly good green curry with endive and kale; pork belly drizzled with dark soy sauce and flanked by celeriac… We had to call it quits after the refreshingly cool blood orange sorbet, plus a turmeric crema catalana. Aroy, aroy, aroy! // Romy Van Helden
