Taking inspiration from a song disputedly credited to legendary bluesman Willie Dixon as the name for your HQ? Bartenders Bart Capoen and Joeri D’Heuvaert will stop at nothing. Little Red Rooster’s drinks menu features signature drinks, classic cocktails and original creations, like the Bloody Bull (€15), a variation on the Bloody Mary made with beef consommé; or the Ruby Root River (€9) with beetroot juice, ginger syrup and parsnip; and as for the Verjus, this spicy mocktail contains beetroot, parsnip, verjus, ginger and sparkling water (€9). The duo never strays far from their roots when to come to unearthing new local ingredients, collaborating with Ghent breweries, or even creating new concoctions, like the Kangourou (€13) combining sunchoke vodka, Balegemse juniper liqueur, dry vermouth and homemade pickled hazelnuts. Not convinced? Talk to Bart and Joeri, they’ll create your very own potion! To bolster your belly, there are a few snacks and appetizers at the bar, including hard boiled eggs with tarragon mayo and pumpkin seeds, or fat American-style sammies, like the steak and cheese (€16).
