Anyone who wants to get the good stuff poured into their noggin should head to Goudstraat, where they’ll find a collection of shiny golden records from the Dutchman Rob Visser – known by Ghent audiophiles for dealing out discs at Music Mania. In his listening bar, it’s the high-end sound system (Linn Sondek LP12 turntable, McInthosh amp and Klipsch Cornwall III speakers) that does the talking – this time in the company of Robert Wyatt and his Cukooland. Walls covered in cork, padded ceilings and thick curtains set the stage for the DJs, who change every Wednesday for religious listening sessions of an album in its entirety, with the door locked. When he’s not sending out sound waves, Rob Visser serves local beers (Mariage Parfait from Boon, €9), a few spirits and organic or natural wines, like a dry Catalan Loxarel A Pèl (€46 a bottle). Unfiltered, like everything else here. // Casimir
