Boom boom go the hearts of cocktail enthusiasts and music lovers alike in Ghent, ever since Amo shot its arrow straight through Stapelplein. Already shaking things up with Bar Bougie, ‘t Kanon and Amigo, Jules Gahide has now poured his passion for hi-fi into this sleek bar, decked out with wood and concrete interiors. Vinyl records, vintage speakers and a DJ booth are alchemized together along with a cocktail menu curated by Jurgen Nobels (previously spotted at Cobbler) filled with striking creations like the Ricecar, a Sidecar remix with grapefruit juice, genmaicha and toasted rice (€15); or the Butter Sage Sour featuring sage, lavender, lemon and butter-washed gin (same price). More of a beer buff? Local brews from Pony’s or Stroom are there to the rescue, and the bar also boasts a house gueuze brewed exclusively by the Dok Brewing Company, in addition to a stellar collection of whiskies. Soak it all up with some small plates cooked up in house, such as sourdough bread slathered in smoked butter and anchovies, or seasonal vegetables pickled in lambic beer (€4-15). // Euphemia Prynne
