Just a stone’s throw from Place de la Canourgue, a new hotspot has emerged where you can wolf down some seriously delicious sandwiches while seated at the charming counter, around one of the wooden tables outside or taken to go and enjoyed in the nearby Jardin des Plantes park. The concept behind this very good “Sandwich Social Club” came from brothers Hadrien (ex-Mamaona in Montpellier) and Corentin Alaoui, who teamed up with Puglia native chef Claudia (ex-Coopera in Putignano), who lovingly prepares these flavor-packed creations right before your very eyes. The day we went, we tried all of the following: a Domi, served on a soft, artisan brioche bun with panko-breaded chicken, pickled red cabbage, makrut lime mayo and tonkatsu sauce; a seriously generous Bravo sandwich made on the same soft and fluffy brioche bun, piled high with some very smoky Will’smoked Meat pastrami, coleslaw, sweet and sour pickles and a tasty magic sauce… All while eyeballing the vegetarian Sabih sandwich on the next table over: made on pita bread, it’s filled with oven-roasted eggplant, cumin-spiced chickpeas, pomegranate seeds, tahini sauce and fresh herbs. Another great reason to swing by? The vinyl nights, where you can listen to great tunes while enjoying a sandwich once or twice a month. // Marcellin Caillou

FEELING THIRSTY? : In addition to classic soft drinks (€2 to €4), there’s Moroccan Casablanca beer or Japanese Kirin beer (€5), really delicious homemade mint lemonade (€3) and two cocktails including a Basil Match made with gin, lemon zest and juice, basil and simple syrup (€9).
PRICE: : Set menus €14-17, sandwiches €9-12, sides €4, desserts €3.50 to €4.
