Brothers Justin and Guillaume Palvadeau have taken over their parents’ cabana at the heart of La Couarde’s salt marshes. At this nautical tavern, seated in the shade of the giant honeysuckle vines, savor flavor-packed fines de claire oysters, which have been freshly plucked from the coastal waters and are even better when washed back with a glass of Cheverny; a Cabane plate, loaded with palourde clams, whelks, oysters and shrimp; or the massive Grande Marée platter for people who can’t get enough of the sea! At La Cabane du Feneau, everything is extremely fresh, including the mayonnaise! And if you’re in the mood for a hot meal, opt for the unbeatable fish soup; the classic mussel and palourde clam chowders; and best of all, the sardines marinated in olive oil and lemon, a true treat. For dessert, there’s a well-made salted caramel rice pudding. // Louise Delange
