NUMBER OF ROOMS: 1 gîte for 14 people
CLOSED ANNUALLY: Open all year round
THE STORY: They always dreamed about owning a guest house in South America, but David and Morgane (a theater grip and a director, respectively) ended up opening one in the Vendée department, 20 minutes from the beach. This former barn, transformed into a gîte for 14 guests has high ceilings and ultra-modern style. There’s a spectacular suspended staircase, a mixture of designer furniture (Wassily Marcel Breuer armchairs, Cesca cane chairs…), vintage finds from over the years, and things Morgane picked up during shoots. The space is well thought out and the 120 m2 living space on the ground floor has a fully equipped kitchen, three parental suites with a private terrace, while upstairs the “chambrettes” are better suited to children (eight max). The exterior is fairly luxurious as well: a 200 m2 terrace on stilts, 2.4 hectares of land and a 10-meter-long pool, heated to 29°C all year round! Dive in! €1,100 for a 2-night weekend, €1,500 to €2,500 a week.
TOILETRIES: Nuxe shower gel, Klorane shampoo.
INTERNET: Wifi (free)
MINI-BAR: No, but there’s a Nespresso machine, a coffee maker and an electric teapot all available, pantry essentials and a welcome basket with brioche vendéenne and a good bottle of red wine.
LITTLE LUXURY: Upon special request, a chef can come prepare a meal made with local and organic ingredients for you.
