Step aside Les Super Filles du Tram, and say hello to Pinotte! After 15 years of flipping burgers, Quebec-native Andréanne Marcil-Bergeron was itching to switch things up… After a name swap, she’s traded in for a brand-new concept and a menu full of cheeky, no-nonsense dishes. And the interiors have had a revamp too, boasting vibrant red walls, hardwood floors, recycled plastic terrazzo tables by Bel Albatros and old-fashioned bistro chairs. The day we went for lunch, the dishes were trilingual: crispy and gooey parmesan croquettes; roasted cod with mushrooms, wilted Swiss chard, parsley espuma and tender baby potatoes; followed by decadent French toast with a twist – brioche soaked in maple syrup, roasted apples and vanilla ice cream – an instant classic guaranteed to make the buttons on your plaid shirt pop. And on weekends, take it easy with the maple leaf-themed brunch. · Queen Amann
