It’s a festival of sandwiches on the harbor in Nice! At this tiny spot under the arcades, seated on the terrace with views of the Mediterranean (or ordered as take-away, if you prefer), the seriously pimped out meals by sisters Marion and Margot Champoussin will leave you flabbergasted. Want a few examples? Prepared on Lagache bread, try the authentic (pan) Bagnat with locally-caught bonito belly; an already legendary Polpette sandwich made with beef meatballs, heirloom tomato sauce, Parmesan and fresh basil on crispy ciabatta; or even a plump Viennois, with slow-cooked chicken and herby mayo, all tucked into two slices of brioche, served with Basque guindilla chilies. Also available: “ratachouka” (a cross between ratatouille and shakshouka with baked eggs, spicy pistou and an herb salad); plump tomato French toast; or some delightfully light olive oil cake, served with yogurt with verbena syrup and citrus. // Laëtitia Sayre 

FEELING THIRSTY? : A Riviera IPA from Les Brasseurs de l’Esterel, and a few natural wines – including Off, a white from Comminges by Bertrand Henry (€6 a glass, €27 a bottle) or a Bugey chardonnay from Les Mangeux d’Pierre (€7 and €38).
