Here, on this quiet street lined with brick houses and a slightly weathered storefront, time seems to stand still. On the terrace, overlooking the back of Saint-Rémy church, a young tourist sketches out the arches of the apse while a local retiree finds a seat, arriving a bit early for the lunch service. This is where Rafaëlle Coto chose to set up her café with a cozy and contemporary midnight blue and white color scheme on the inside, featuring a stunning Faema E61 espresso machine that steals the show. And where everything is delicious, from the coffee roasted by Couleur Café in Rouen to the toasted tartines topped with baked ham, truffled gouda and tender greens, all made on sourdough bread from the city’s most beloved bakery, Aux Pains Populaires, plus a slice of homemade cheesecake drizzled in salted caramel sauce for dessert. // Jeanne Suc
