The daughter of a Dordogne poultry farmer, Fleur Godart made quite a name for herself long before opening her own spot. Renowned for unearthing natural-wine gems, curating thoughtful wines selections for discerning restaurants and even authoring documentary graphic novels, her latest venture is a charming wine bar in Saint-Ouen, whose sunny terrace brings life to the surrounding geometric concrete apartment blocks. Inside, mustard-yellow walls beam with good cheer, complemented by Formica tables, a tiled bar where crafty plates from the tiny kitchen are served, a small but meaningful selection of store cupboard goods available to purchase, and vintage shelving units brimming with beautiful wines, like Kumpf & Meyer, Clos Kixhaya and Château de Béru. As for the house wine? Self Love, a Rhône syrah vinified by her pal Justine Vigne (€35 drank in house, €25 to go) – just one of a hundred or so bottles patiently waiting to be uncorked. What else? There are wines on tap, like Ça Va Le Faire, an Alsatian white from Domaine Jeux de Vins (€3 a glass), and Félix Fait Tout, a smooth Corbières red from John Smith (€12 a carafe). As for the chalkboard menu, it’s on solid form: deviled eggs in creative variations (€6), a hearty grilled cheese oozing with cheddar and caramelized onions (€12), new potato salad with fennel and chicken from her father’s farm (€14) and roast chicken on Saturdays (€14 a quarter).
