Looking for some food for thought at the foot of Montmartre? Given away by its tomette-red storefront, the inviting coffee shop / eatery from Özge Kacan and Mehdi Bouzidi is a far cry from all the neighborhood shops peddling postcards to tourists. And for good reason: their coffee, sourced straight from Brazil, can be brewed any way you like (espresso, drip, cortado, flat white, etc.) and the sweet treats pay tribute to the duo’s Turkish roots. But that’s not all! Their sandwiches, made on bread from the nearby Atelier P1 bakery, are true crowd-pleasers, starting with the pastrami sandwich, generously stacked with meat from Will’s Deli, crunchy pickles, English mustard and aged cheddar, or even the (very) indulgent grilled cheese, combining aged cheddar, reblochon, dates, roasted shallots and hazelnuts. But the boiled eggs and soldiers, served with sumac butter, also get the job done right… And what about the desserts? It’s impossible to choose just one, between the cookies, the halva brownies or the scones served the proper way, with jam and cream. // Anna Elisabeth
THE HIDDEN GEM: The homemade granola, served with Greek yogurt and pear poached with tonka bean (€8.50).
