Don’t judge this all-white coffee shop by its less-than-colorful appearance! In addition to serving incredible pastries, the young Japanese chef Megumi Takehana (ex-Nanashi) whips up multicolored, border-hopping savory dishes. For us, the day we went for lunch: an electrifying salad that combined marinated cucumber, watermelon, tomato, red onion, feta and olives; an incredible donburi with grilled pork loin, a powerful jus de viande, zucchini, rice and chimichurri sauce – more appealing than the bento box filled with beef meatballs in ponzu sauce; before roasted apricots with Greek yogurt whipped cream and a matcha crumble for dessert. At night, it’s all about Japanese tapas: slow-roasted leeks cooked in dashi; bluefin tuna with a shiso sauce and pickled red onions; black sesame chiffon cake with mascarpone cream… // Renaud Fuego
