Enough child’s play! Newly converted Belgian baker Delphine Jeanne now keeps all those who step through the door of her minimalist haven fueled on caffeine. In between the four white walls, you’ll find a glass-topped wooden bar that showcases both her sweet and savory treats all day long, which you can devour seated at one of the two high tables along the windowed storefront, or on the bench outside, soaking in the fresh air. The day we went, we wolfed down all of the following: a chocolate and ricotta brownie that really hit the spot; plump and crispy cookies; and even an incredibly gooey cinnamon pudding cake. Her secret? Everything is baked in house, from the sourdough buns and focaccia which she transforms into delicious sandwiches (whipped feta, fresh arugula, crispy portobello mushrooms and hazelnuts, for example.) to the cakes with just the right amount of sweetness. As for the drinks: there’s Dose coffee, spicy chai lattes, iced matcha… All of which can be enjoyed as you watch what’s coming out of the oven, smoking hot. // Pétunia Lipari
THE HIDDEN GEM: The delightfully firm Basque cheesecake, which is both perfectly charred on top and creamy on the inside.
