A former brothel-turned-hotel, the discrete Maison Souquet hides a cozy bar at its center that’s perfect for a devilish cocktail or nightcap. Designed by Jacques Garcia, the décor really plays up the twilight boudoir ambiance, between the winter garden with big floral cushions and the library with a fireplace and eggplant-purple squat armchairs. To drink, the young Clara Boussion (who used to work at Le Normandy in Deauville) offers up a very fruit-heavy menu (drinks €17): a creamy Mimi with the flavors of an orchard (Beefeater 24 gin, homemade jasmine syrup, lemon juice, apple juice, Angostura orange bitters, egg whites) or a delicate Leila with fresh raspberries (raspberry-infused vodka, St-Germain Elderflower, orange juice, lime juice, ginger ale). And since the mocktails (€13) have been carefully concocted (Margot with white peach juice, lime, ginger beer and basil), there are plenty of good reasons to come grab a seat on the terrace and dive into a bowl of taramasalata (€15), sardines in oil (€16) or a luxurious French caviar (€90). // A.B.
