THE STORY: On the outskirts of the Nouvelles Athènes neighborhood, in the 9th arrondissement – a hotspot for the artsy Parisian elite from the nineteenth – you’ll now find the Hôtel Le Ballu, which was opened in the old (and very handsome) Sacem building. Running the show is hôtelière JuliaVidalenc and her architect husband, Thomas, who made the insane bet not to coordinate anything décor-wise… And, low and behold, it works incredibly well! The bedrooms achieve a rare sense of elegance, while perfectly combining genres: colorful walls (Prussian blue, emerald green, chick yellow…), modern light fixtures, Slavic furniture from the 1960s, light hardwood floors and striking terrazzo details! Equipped with kitchenettes and occasionally modular beds, they are also very practical for families. Double rooms starting at €320 a night.
TOILETRIES: Atelier Cologne soap, body wash and shampoo.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: Included depending on the deal or 22 € with Brûlerie de Belleville coffee, Kusmi Tea, bread, viennoiseries, Prince de Paris ham, smoked trout, Ferme des Peupliers yogurt, fruit salad…
MINI-BAR: Yes (with juices, sodas, water & champagne), but every room has a kitchenette with a coffee machine and an electric teapot.
LITTLE LUXURY: The spa’s beautifully tiled swimming pool is the ideal spot for relaxing at the end of the day.
