Word to the wise: this place is full of porky treats! On the expressway between Plouharnel and Carnac, keep your eyes peeled for a fluorescent yellow sign that reads “STOP ANDOUILLES.” Here you’ll find the Lebihans, who have been selling pork products made from pigs raised on Breton lands for 60 years. The result? There’s always a crowd! Fill your shopping basket with all of the following: crazy saucissons (the Zigounettes), which you can gobble up during your next apéro (€5 for ten); salted andouille smoked over wood (€32/kg); orgasmic sausage macerated for 48 hours in cider brandy (€31/kg)…. And if you’re in the mood for some pâté, the one made with pepper and seaweed is to die for! More classic options that are just as magical include the merguez and chipolata sausages for your summer BBQs, or some beautiful roasted bacon. Our advice? Grab a table out front for a quick lunch, before heading back on the road. Good news for collectors: the Stop Andouilles sticker will be a big hit on your fridge! // J.M.
Hidden gem: The Breton sausage, which you can take to go or devour in house from Wednesday to Sunday morning at the Carnac farmer’s market, in one of the well-made galettes by Yannick and Babacar (€9.80/kg).
