THE STORY: Ahh, the familiar whisper of home… That’s ultimately what led photographer Yann Audic and his architect partner Naoko Nishizu to settle into this family home in the Morbihan department. A few thoughtful renovations later and bam! This guest house was ready to welcome in guests, with three distinct lodging options that can be combined as you see fit: the main house, which overlooks the water, steeped in its original 1950s architectural style, boasts an open kitchen, a big living room with a wood-fired stove and a terrace; the duplex, nestled in the heart of the house, offers impressive high ceilings (four meters high, in fact!) and light-filled bay windows; and the atelier, where Yann’s oyster-farming ancestors used to work, showcases a mix of raw materials (pine wood, concrete, metal), while still maintaining a warm, inviting feel. What ties them all together? A very wabi-sabi atmosphere tinged with glaz, the region’s signature hue (a cross between teal and seafoam green), along with a garden that leads to the tranquil Crac’h River. Rates start at €340 a night for the house, €175 for the duplex, €110 for the atelier, or €390 for all three combined.
