Want to know more about the art de vivres in Paimpol? Head to this marine antiques shop that’s been redesigned as a lovely convenience store (wood and cast-iron furniture, a tiled bar) filled with locally-sourced ingredients chosen by Félix Le Louarn, a former sommelier at Eels in Paris, and Anne-Lore Le Louarn, who used to work at Superfrais in Paris as well. Fill your shopping basket up with all kinds of artisan goods, including: purple basil from the Prad Kazeg farm, well-made Reblamour cheese from Les Hirondelles de Tréguier cheesemongers, chicken (spatchcocked and marinated in lemon) from La Ferme du Rocher, smoked fish from Les Fumaisons de Groix, who make an especially good smoked mackerel… Not to mention a few liquid products from La Cidrerie L’Éphémère and homemade rhubarb lemonade (rhubarb syrup, lemon juice, basil, rosemary) which you can sip on the sky-blue terrace. // Henriette Ma
The hidden gem: One of the explosively spicy varieties of chili paste (€6.80 to €9.10 for 120 g) jarred by Christophe Gauchet (of the now-closed L’Arsouille in Rennes).
