After shaking up Nantes’ nightlife scene and traveling across Europe with their collective Voiceless, audiophiles Alexandre Gaujarengues and Thomas Plu returned home to open up Bar303, a cross between a club and a neighborhood wine bar. Want a closer look? There are racks filled with hundreds of vinyls that you can dig through, and a wooden bar with plenty of craft beers and living wines. Take them to go or pop open one of the 80 labels in house (in exchange for a €7 corkage fee): Magic of Juju, a Loire Chenin / Grolleau gris mix from Agnès and René Mosse (€16), a Savoie Gamay from Corentin Houillon (€20), or even Mise en bouche, a Rhone Grenache-Clairette from Lolita Sene (€22). And to sponge it all up, there are plump platters filled with the best local ingredients, including cheeses from the Les Carmélites creamery, which you can serve with bread from Maison Arlot Cheng… Our ultimate tip: go for one of the weekend DJ sets, or the art exhibitions that are held regularly. Who said the party was over? // Henriette Ma
The bullet-proof bottle: G&M, a skin-contact white from Auvergne producers Justine Loiseua and Patrick Bouju (€25).
