THE STORY: At the heart of the Eure Valley, just an hour outside of Paris, the Domaine de Primard has a royal feel: this noble French-First-Republic-style house is surrounded by moats and a 40-hectare garden, along with a longère farmhouse, a rose garden, a vegetable patch, a greenhouse and an animal farm… It’s all run by Frédéric Biousse and Guillaume Foucher, two collectors of hotels (Le Domaine de Fontenille in the Luberon, Les Bords de Mer in Marseille, Les Hortensias du Lac in Hossegor…) and fervent defenders of the estate’s historical patrimony, which has been updated to reflect the tastes of the times. There are 40 bedrooms to choose from, mixing pastel tones, antique paneling, solid oak floors and old fireplaces, all majestically gracing the various buildings, each of which has breathtaking views of the estate grounds, designed over thirty years ago by Jacques Wirtz – a landscaper who is also responsible for the Jardins du Carrousel and the Jardin des Tuileries. In short, plenty to spice up an already grandiose stay, made even more memorable by the fine dining restaurant, the bistro or even Éric Frechon’s table d’hôte… The perfect place for a chic country escape! Double rooms starting at €280 a night.
