THE STORY: The very chic Hôtel Particulier has expanded its Arles concept to about fifteen minutes outside of the old town, with two “hotel houses” in the countryside, in Maussanne-les-Alpilles. Established in a former fifteenth-century priory, these refuges with canonical names – Santa Anna and San Léon – each have five bedrooms and suites with views of the garden and a sublime pool. You’ll find monastic inspiration for the décor (white linen walls and sheets, pale grey waxed concrete floors), parsimonious furniture (antique chests and tables, upholstered stools, vintage doors) and cult objects – candelabras, golden crowns, glass bells… The perfect place to be cloistered away for a romantic weekend! Starting at €309 a night for a double room.

TOILETRIES: Hermès shampoo, shower gel and lotion.
INTERNET: Wifi (free)
BREAKFAST: €26 with coffee or tea, freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly baked bread and viennoiseries, eggs, cheese, fruit, crepes, pastries, rice pudding and homemade jams.
MINI-BAR: Yes, with mineral waters (plat and sparkling) provided free of charge. There’s also a kitchen available for use.
LITTLE LUXURY: The spectacular dining room with vaulted ceilings, a fireplace and direct access to the garden, where you can have breakfast.
