THE STORY: In what feels like a small slice of wonderland, in their spare time foodie-of-all-trades Alice Moireau (founder of Table, the art of receiving brand) and her brother Émile open the doors of their family home, which is every bit as charming as its hosts. This wooden chalet, originally built in 1862 to showcase Swiss carpenters’ craftsmanship, was presented at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris, before being dismantled and lovingly rebuilt here. Outside, the blooming gorgeous floral gardens and the exquisite wrought-iron gloriette gazebo and garden furniture are just as enchanting as the interiors: a fully equipped cream and sea green kitchen, vintage china galore, a luxurious living room made for lounging and two elegant upstairs bedrooms, named Anémone and Pivoine, furnished in soft colors and natural fabrics. There’s also a dreamy bathroom with a clawfoot tub and an antique ceramic washbasin, plus a show-stopping balcony overlooking the River Loiret in all its romantic glory. Whole chalet rental at €230 to €280 a night. // Eddie Muffin
BREAKFAST: No breakfast served on-site, but the chalet is surrounded by plenty of excellent local shops within walking distance (such as Maison Besnier, for sourdough bread and incredible viennoiseries), so you can stock up on supplies and whip up your own in the kitchen at a leisurely pace.
TOILETRIES: Soap from L’Artisan Parfumeur.
LITTLE LUXURY: Follow the private path leading down to the river and borrow the small boat moored at the water’s edge.
