THE STORY: After the eccentric RockyPop Hotel in Chamonix-Les Houches, Romaine Trollet opened up the St-Alban, a classy blonde wood hotel nestled away at the foot of the La Clusaz slopes. The sleek, snug bedrooms put a novel twist on mountain style with a touch of intellectual hygge: a well-stocked Nordic pine bookcase, fifties light fixtures, checkered blankets, vintage leather gym mats for the headboards… In the common areas, the ambiance is even cozier, like a private English club with its very chic Cognac benches, golden tables and books everywhere you look. Double rooms starting a €162 a night, access to the Nuxe spa and pool included.
TOILETRIES: Nuxe soap, shampoo and body wash.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: €16, with coffee or tea, breads, miniature viennoiseries, pancakes, donuts, charcuterie, cheese, scrambled eggs, compote, fresh fruits…
MINI-BAR: Yes, with coke, diet coke, Vittel, San Pellegrino, beer. Plus a Nespresso machine in every room.
LITTLE LUXURY: Snack time, with hot drinks and pie, provided free of charge every day at 4pm in the lobby, to recharge your batteries after hitting the slopes!
