Long live wine, long live plural wines! At Aux Caves du Château – or ACDC to friends – the road is paved with good intentions thanks to Antoine Éparvier and Benoît Mourelon, two wine-mad mates presiding over more than two thousand labels from every corner of the map. True, the setting isn’t exactly postcard-worthy (tucked into a nondescript retail park, with a gas station for a view), but the shelves hum with life, packed with everything from organic gems to natural wonders, like Jocundaz, a red Côtes-du-Rhône from Vignoble Simian (€10.80 a bottle), or a Mâcon-Villages from Domaine des Gandines (€16.20). The bang-tidy champagne lineup also turns heads, including Grande Vallée, a pinot noir, meunier and chardonnay blend from Roger Pouillon & Fils (€45), not to mention a vast selection of spirits and craft beers. In short: quite possibly the best wine shop in the Annecy area! · Omar Ciboulette
THE BULLET-PROOF BOTTLE: Au Poirier 2022, a Savagnin by the up-and-coming Maison des Saules (€28).
