THE STORY: Got an uncontrollable urge for full-on luxury in the great outdoors? Hotel Saint-Georges welcomes Moon Boot-wearing guests just steps from the ski lifts of the ultra-chic town of Megève. The latest alpine jewel in the Chapitre Six collection (Hôtel La Ponche, Hôtel Hana, Hôtel des Académies et des Arts), this theatrical chalet has been fully reinvented by designer Luke Edward Hall, following his acclaimed turn at Hôtel Les Deux Gares. This time round, the Brit has gone gloriously Wes Anderson on the place. Across some thirty rooms spread over four floors, expect headboards wrapped in mountain-scene fabrics, bathrooms fitted with vintage fixtures, and desks sculpted like miniature peaks. The aesthetic continues in the reception area, with its graphic carpeting, marble columns and painted fresco, then flows into the hushed piano bar and the cozy restaurant, where fringed sofas, custom floral rugs and antique paintings are thrown in for good measure. Inevitably, when checkout time rolls around, you’ll already be plotting your next descent – straight back here. Double room from €300 per night. · Eddie Muffin

TOILETRIES: Soap, shampoo and body wash from the Sicilian brand Ortigia.

BREAKFAST: €32 (€16 for children), an all-you-can-eat buffet including hot drinks (coffee, tea, hot chocolate), fruit juice, fresh bread and viennoiseries, local jams and cheeses, yogurt, cereals and fresh fruit salad… as well as eggs cooked to order and generously topped toast, for an additional charge.

LITTLE LUXURY: Unwind in the Japanese sauna after a long day on the slopes, then indulge in one of the many treatments offered in the wellness area.
