Nestled between a Chinese/Thai eatery and a Syrian snackbar is this Chinese spot, hiding behind the least welcoming storefront in central Brussels. As its name doesn’t suggest, Gourmets Everyday fires out – sometimes literally, thanks to the overly energetic service – traditional Chinese dishes that never compromise on authenticity, perfectly seasoned right down to an eye-watering T: marinated pork tripe salad served warm with coriander and chili oil, which should be inducted into the spicy hall of fame; hot and sour soup with just the right amount of Sichuan pepper; silky ma po tofu stew; a mountain of gingery fried noodles; tender stir-fried Sichuan beef fillet… XXL portions, doggy bags willingly offered, and a check that looks like it came from another era. // Idoine Gérard
