And yet another star in Brussels’ caffeinated galaxy! On the aptly named Rue du Vieux Marché aux Grains, Anna and Tèchou Dersie (the duo behind the travel agency Ethiopia Traditions Travel) are now brewing up pure joy at Addis Stories, a café devoted entirely to authentic Ethiopian coffee. Their sacrosanct bean of choice? Arabica, of course! Expertly roasted by MOK, it’s pulled here as espresso or macchiato just like back in the bean’s homeland – a notch stronger than anything you’d sip in Italy. Grab a seat in the space filled with warm, colorful textures (or opt for a spot in the peaceful inner courtyard) and nibble on tasty snacks like injera – a subtly fermented flatbread made from teff flour (a grain grown in the Horn of Africa), rolled and stuffed with berbere-spiced beef, or with a vibrant mix of lentils, beets, chickpeas and onions for the vegan version. And before you go, grab a little slice of Ethiopia to enjoy at home: artisanal smoked honey from their own hives, moringa in all its forms, exotic spices… And make sure to return every other Sunday for jebena buna, the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony (pre-registration necessary). Get your fix before everyone else gets hooked! // Gwen Dalle
