Mayzou

A beacon in the night! Toss a seashell and you’d reach Mimbeau from here… Mayzou is bringing a little excitement to the Cap-Ferret nightlife scene with its decadent setting: a luminous patio with lots of cozy corners, terra cotta walls, driftwood benches, cushions scattered all over… A perfect spot for digging into lots of worldly small plates prepared by chef Juliette Lacroix (ex-Melt in Paris) in the open kitchen. The night we went: sourdough bread topped with ricotta, pistachios and anchovies in vinegar, to get things started; smoky eggplant with a miso sauce, sprinkled with pomegranate seeds; lovely flame-charred mackerel served with apples and even more pomegranate seeds; electrifying swordfish ceviche paired with fresh nectarines; before a whipped cream heavy pavlova dotted with fresh raspberries. // R.T.

FEELING THIRSTY? A wine list that was still being built when we visited, but the cocktail selection is quite reliable, with drinks like the Jah Maican Mule (€11) that combines rum, spicy ginger beer, mint and CBD-infused Angostura, or the Bloody Mary (same price) with tomato juice, Mare gin and oyster juice!
PRICE: Small plates €8-16, mains €17-23, desserts €7-9, brunch à la carte €12-16.
