FYI: expert level global food trotter joint! It’s difficult to spot from the exterior since the name is only written out on the mailbox, but this restaurant is just as good as anything you’d get in Lagos. It’s the unofficial meeting place of car vendors heading to West Africa. The warm atmosphere of chaudin tripe floats around the small space – wavy mirrors topped with Saint-Gilles jerseys and Victor Boniface Bayern Munich shirts, the local kid with golden feet! The most audacious among you will opt for the edidaikong, a preparation of escargots and cow skin, or the goat’s head ragù, a laudable “nose-to-tail” classic from the African repertoire. For something a little less daring, there’s efo riro, misleadingly described on the menu as “vegetable soup,” despite the fact that it’s hardly liquid. This spinach and shrimp ragù, lightly spiced and served with beef tripe, gets scooped up with foufou. Still too far out of your comfort zone? Opt instead for the suya beef skewers served with roasted plantains. // Salty Litchi
FEELING THIRSTY? Nothing special: a trio of the same mass-produced sodas (€2 a glass) that you find all around the world, Leffe Blonde (€3.50) or, for those who want to feel like they’re drinking alcohol when they’re not, there’s Malta Guinness (€3.50).
PRICE: À la carte €7-20.
