Hiding away on Dageraadplaats is this discreet spot from David Joris and Babs Cossers (formerly of Overvloed fame), playing a Thai-style speakeasy game. The pitch? Green tones almost everywhere (from the walls to the windows, tables and chairs) and food that gets straight to the point, in the capable hands of Phug and Mint. Just take the other night as an example: betel leaves to garnish with shallots, dried shrimp, ginger, chili pepper, curry paste and peanuts, for plant-based wraps that go off with a bang; incredibly juicy pork belly served with bok choy and snow peas – dunked in some spicy fish sauce for an even hotter version; before a gooey but light Thai pancake paired with coconut ice cream, the last in the line of flawless dishes. // Suzette Follet
FEELING THIRSTY? Thai basil mojitos (€12.50), homemade iced tea served like a cocktail with lime and a chili round (€4), and even a selection of wines scribbled on the chalkboard (including Fresh Impression, a biodynamic Jura white from Hughes-Béguet at €7.50 a glass and €40 a bottle).
PRICE: À la carte €39-48.
