Summed up by Valeria Gangemi and Jack Abrams as the “place to pizz,” this spot which opened in 2020 provides 15 or so hungry bellies a place to warm up around the big oven, which has a tiny statue of the Virgin Mary sitting on top of it. The best way to worship the religion of Neapolitan pizza, perhaps the best in the Walloon Brabant region? The day we went for lunch, Puglia-native Ali, who has 30 years of experience to his name, slid the pizza of the moment out of the oven – a Tre Colori, with a light base and a beautifully charred crust, topped with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, capers, basil, oregano and a drizzle of good olive oil, as well as a dozen other options: a Crudo with Parma ham, a Bianca with rosemary and olive oil; or a Verdure with artichoke pesto and seasonal veg. And to finish? A Dulce with crushed Piedmont hazelnuts, nocciolata and white chocolate shavings, plus an espresso served in a paper cup. Pizza e basta ! // Timotea Persil
Feeling thirsty? A modest selection of Italian wines – a negroamaro salento from Campi Deantera (€6.50 a glass) or a prosecco from Cantina Riondo (€22 a bottle) – and beers (One Cloud pale ale or blanche at €4.50).
Price: Pizzas €8-19.
