Sarah Mouchot and Nicolas Alary’s coffee shops on Rue Lucien-Sampaix are always packed. While Holybelly 5 plays all the Anglo-Saxon breakfast greatest hits, Holybelly 19 (marble tables, teal banquettes, exposed light bulbs)takes a more worldwide approach. For us the day we went for lunch: addictive khachapuri, a Georgian bread stuffed with melted cheese and fresh herbs; delicate steamed leeks and gomasio with peanuts and sesame oil, topped with a little nest of fried leeks; tender Basque country steak tartare with kimchi, a coco de Pampol bean mousseline and a sesame tuile; before the true stars of our lunch, the walnut and pear butter scones which, when paired with blu di bufala cheese, become a truly orgasmic experience. It’s also worth noting that breakfast is served from 9am to noon – eg.: egg and soldiers with salted butter; mini donuts with a dulce de leche dipping sauce; coconut yogurt with seasonal fruit and puffed quinoa; smoked pork croquettes with homemade piccalilli… // S.S.

FEELING THIRSTY? Swedish Koppi Roasters coffee (€3.50 a cup), Parti du Thé tea (€5 a teapot), jasmine-raspberry Vivant kombucha (€5 for 330 ml), Deck & Donohue pale ale (€5 for 330 ml) and even a glass of natural wine, like the Loire white from Le Clos du Tue-Bœuf(€6).

PRICE: Breakfast plates €4-8, à la carte €24-31.
